Wire Stool

This piece is part of my furniture collection, inspired by the principles of structural efficiency. The wire elements in the legs are carefully angled to create a stable yet lightweight structure, giving the piece a sense of visual lightness without compromising strength. Its dimensions are purposefully chosen so it can function both as a stool and a side table, adapting to different spaces and uses.

As with all of my designs, this stool is entirely handcrafted in my workshop in the Netherlands. The concept for the legs emerged when I came across scrap pieces of rebar left over from a concrete factory. Rebar, typically used to reinforce concrete, is a remarkably strong material, and its ridged texture adds a unique character to the piece.

To form the legs, I lay out the rebar on a custom mold that holds each piece in place while I weld them together, ensuring a precise fit. The legs are then finished with a durable black powder coating, and the bottoms are fitted with a felt layer to protect floors from scratches. The seat is made from FSC-certified beech wood, finished with a clear varnish to showcase the natural grain.
